Responsibility

Our responsibility

Buy less. Wear it to death.

We’re a new brand, and we won’t pretend we’ve got it all figured out. But we started LAFFUE partly because of the pile of clothes we’d bought that never quite fitted. This is where we’re starting, and where we want to go.

01 / OUR APPROACH

The most wasteful piece is the one you don’t wear.

If you’ve got longer proportions, you’ll know the cycle. You buy the trousers that are almost long enough, wear them twice, then buy another pair hoping they’ll be better. The almost wardrobe is expensive, and it’s not great for the planet either.

We think one of the most useful things we can do is make pieces that actually fit, so you can buy fewer of them and wear them a lot more.

02 / FEWER, BETTER PIECES

Small collections, on purpose.

Seasonless staples.
We design pieces that work across the year and across your week, not just for one trend or one occasion. Wear them as often as you like. That’s the point.

Shapes that come back.
Our core silhouettes return season after season in new colours and fabrics, so once you’ve found your fit, you know it’ll be there next time.

Made in small runs.
We make less, not more. Launching on pre-order helps us make what people actually want, rather than guessing and hoping.

03 / FABRICS & MAKERS

Start with the good stuff.

We’re committed to sourcing the best fabrics we can and working with responsible suppliers wherever possible. So far, we’ve chosen two.

Naia™ satin.
Made from wood pulp by Eastman, who recover and reuse the solvents used in production. Our Badesse fabric is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified. Read the satin fabric notes

Grade A cashmere.
100% Mongolian cashmere, Good Cashmere Standard and OEKO-TEX® certified, and made by a knitwear specialist certified by OEKO-TEX®. Read the cashmere fabric notes

Our makers.
We chose our makers for their skill, their craftsmanship and the standards they hold themselves to, and we work with them directly on every detail. Good fabric, made well, lasts longer.

04 / PRICING

Why our pieces cost what they do.

We’d rather tell you than leave you wondering.

We make in small runs.
The specialists who make our pieces also produce for some of the biggest names in fashion. Those brands order in the thousands, which gets them rates we can’t. We pay more per piece so we can work with the best.

Simple isn’t quick.
A clean wide-leg trouser or a plain crew neck has nowhere to hide. Getting the fit right took more samples, more fittings and more time than we’d like to admit.

We started with the hard ones.
Grade A cashmere and Naia™ satin were the pieces we struggled to find done well, and neither comes cheap. We’d rather make fewer things properly than more things that don’t last.

We think of them as investments: the pieces you reach for most, season after season, for years. As we grow, so will the range, with more pieces at more price points.

05 / PACKAGING

No plastic in the post.

Every piece is packed in a compostable garment bag and sent out in a recycled paper mailer. Our packaging is FSC® certified, meaning the paper comes from responsibly managed sources.

When your order arrives, pop the paper mailer in your recycling and the garment bag in your compost.

06 / WHAT’S NEXT

Not perfect. Paying attention.

Making clothes has an impact, and we’re not going to claim otherwise. What we can do is make considered choices now and keep improving as we grow.

As LAFFUE grows, we want to get to know our supply chain better, share more about the people who make our pieces, and keep choosing better fabrics as we add new styles. We’ll update this page as we go, including the things we haven’t got right yet.

Got an idea, or a question we haven’t answered? We’d genuinely like to hear it: hello@laffue.com
